Rufina has been in the Environmental Services industry for 29 years and has been with Orlando Health for the past six years where she received an Employee of the Month Award and several Honorary Kudos Awards. She enjoys the opportunity to interact with the patients while attending to their room. “I feel good knowing that I am the one to get the room ready for that sick patient to come in,” said Rufina. “I see it as my mother coming into the hospital. Do I want her to wait on a room or have a room that is not safe? No. Rufina also enjoys empowering patients when the opportunity presents itself. For example, when a patient and his wife were nervous about their hospital stay, she removed her gloves, washed her hands and held both of their hands in hers while assuring them he was in excellent hands and would be well taken care of. Rufina keeps in contact with them still today.
